Twenty years old and with a real desire to show Europe what he can do. José Ridolfo Pires Ribeiro, better known as Dodò, is one of the most exciting players in Brazilian football. A left-back who grew up alongside legend Roberto Carlos, after a long spell in the youth team at Corinthians, was eventually called into the first-team squad. It only took a few games for the 'apprentice' to replace the 'master' as he impressed everyone at his club with his quality as footballer. He has a remarkable engine along with typical Brazilian technical ability. His talent (which he also displayed with the Brazilian national youth teams) attracted scouts from major overseas clubs (especially Manchester United), but he preferred to stay put in Brazil.

In 2011 he moved to Bahia on loan, but suffered a serious injury to his knee ligaments, keeping him on the sidelines until 2012. In spite of his injury Roma have high hopes for him and secured his signature to develop him further at Trigoria. This is what Walter Sabatini had to say about him: 'Dodò is a great footballer, he plays the game the right way. He'll entertain our fans.'

Early career
In May 2009 he was linked with a future transfer to English club Manchester United to be completed on February 2010. He was spotted during the South American Under-17 championship that Brazil won. After a two-week trial at Carrington. In December 2010, he joined Bahia on loan for the end of the league campaign.

Roma
On 2 July 2012, Dodo joined Serie A side A.S. Roma. He made his debut on 28 October in a 2-3 loss against Udinese. He started match and was later substituted by Marquinho.

;
