Better known until recently for being the brother of famous export Wilson Palacios, Jhony Palacios is a reliable central defender who has begun to make his own name.

One of four footballing siblings, Palacios now has the opportunity to increase his profile at the 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa™, having proved his worth to coach Reinaldo Rueda as a handy squad member.

The high points of his career to date have come with Olimpia, with whom he has won several Honduran league winners’ medals. His sterling performances for Los Leones on both the domestic and international scene almost resulted in a move to English Premier League side Wigan only for the deal to fall through at the last minute.

Despite impressing with Olimpia over a sustained period of time, he has only recently been brought into the Catracho fold, Rueda giving him his first run-out at the 2009 CONCACAF Gold Cup. Showing he could adapt to international football, Palacios held his place in the squad throughout the rest of the qualifying competition for South Africa 2010.

With his confidence high, the youngest of the Palacios boys is ready to show the world he is more than just Wilson’s little brother.
