The 2011/12 campaign looked like it could be a decisive season in the burgeoning career of Emmanuel - until injury cruelly struck.
The combative midfielder made a big impression during pre-season and was rewarded with a first start in the Premier League against Liverpool in August, but was sent off for two bookable offences. But the enthusiastic midfielder did not let that disappointment affect him, and managed to rack up 14 appearances for Arsène Wenger's first team before Christmas.
With chances becoming more limited Emmanuel went out on loan to Wolves, and made a bright start to his spell at Molineux. However, just as the Ghana-born midfielder was hitting his stride, he ruptured the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee against QPR and his campaign was ended prematurely.
It was particularly tough as Emmanuel had missed nine months the previous season with a similar injury in his other knee, but he has underlined his determination to come back even stronger this term.
Emmanuel has been with the Club since the age of nine, and played a major role in the FA Youth Cup success of 2009. His all-action style and enthusiastic approach has already made him a favourite among Arsenal fans. |
