Though not yet a household name, promising young Cameroon international Eyong Enoh will be determined to change all that come the 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa™. A gifted defensive midfielder, the youngster learned his trade in his homeland before deciding to try his luck on European soil in summer 2004.

Trials in France, England, Denmark, Sweden and Israel ensued, with Enoh coming close to signing for English outfit Portsmouth only to be denied a work permit. Eventually ending up at Turkish Cypriot club Magusa Turk Gucu SK, he was quickly handed an escape route by South Africa’s Ajax Cape Town, a satellite team of the Dutch and European giants.

Two excellent campaigns followed, including a player of the season award in 2008, which earned him a switch to Amsterdam that same year. Having adapted quickly to life in the Eredivisie, Enoh made his senior Cameroon debut in June 2009 and has since gone on to become an integral component of Lions’ coach Paul Le Guen’s three-man midfield.
