Abdelkader Ghezzal is one more French-born player on the Algerian team. He started out his career with amateur French side Saint Priest at the age of 20 in 2004 where he stayed for only one season before moving to Italy - where he continues to play until this day. His first Italian club was Crotone of Serie C and during his third season he made a strong impression by scoring 20 goals in 33 games. That caught the eye of first division side Sienna, who signed on the young striker in 2008, and he has been a regular ever since.

The 25-year-old is one of the latest additions to the Desert Foxes list of strikers as he made his international debut in November of 2008 against Mali and then played a key role in Algeria’s qualifying campaign for the 2010 FIFA World Cup™. His most memorable goal was scored in Algeria’s 3-1 victory over their North African rivals Egypt in the summer of 2009. He was also a key player with his team at the CAF Africa Cup of Nations this year, and he participated in all six of Algeria’s games helping them to claim fourth place in the tournament.
