| Skilful midfielder Pablo Aimar played in the Argentina teams who took third place at the 1995 FIFA U-17 World Championship and first place at the 1997 FIFA World Youth Championship in Malaysia. He helped River Plate collect several prizes before signing for Spanish club Valencia in 2001. El Payaso (The Clown) subsequently led Valencia to two league titles and the UEFA Cup in 2004. In 2002 Aimar featured for Argentina at the FIFA World Cup™ finals in Korea/Japan and in 2005 he was included in the squad that reached the final of the FIFA Confederations Cup in Germany.
