Ivan Obradovic may only be 21 but his efficiently belies his inexperience. A left-back who is very difficult to get past, he plies his trade with Zaragoza in La Liga.
Obradovic rose through the Partizan youth ranks and, after a brief spell on loan at Teleoptik, whom the Belgrade giants send many of their youngsters to in order for them to gain experience, he made his Crno-beli debut against Vojvodina in April 2007. He swiftly penned a professional contract at the club, and the following season made 19 league appearances en route to a title winner’s medal.
Obradovic played a prominent role in Partizan defending their crown in 2008/09, defending proficiently and providing an outlet down the left flank. An accurate crosser, his name was placed on the wanted list of a handful of European clubs. Ajax appeared to have the edge in the battle to sign him, but the Serbian ultimately decided to join Zaragoza, keen to test himself in the prestigious Spanish top flight. However, he has found first-team opportunities limited in his first season at La Romareda.
Obradovic made his Serbia debut in their South Africa 2010 qualifying curtain-raiser against Faroe Islands in September 2008, which resulted in a 2-0 victory, and he scored his first international goal in their 3-1 win away to Austria the following month. In total, he made six appearances during their successful campaign. |
