Profile:
With dazzling moves on the flanks and across the midfield, Lee Chung-Yong is a speedy winger who has excellent vision and the ability to provide accurate passes to the frontmen.

The Blue Dragon, as his name translates, began his professional career at FC Seoul’s youth set-up in 2004 but it was in his fourth season that he was promoted to the first team by the newly appointed coach Senol Gunes. Lee then went on to play an important role in the 2008 season as the capital club finished runners-up in the K-League championship final.

Meanwhile, Lee came through the ranks of Korea Republic’s youth teams at various age levels before taking part in the 2008 Olympic Football Tournament in Beijing. He had already won his first cap against Jordan in May 2008 in the Asian Zone qualifying for the FIFA World CupÔ, and featured in ten matches overall in the preliminary competition.

After the successful qualifying campaign for South Africa 2010, Lee was offered a transfer to Bolton Wanderers in the summer of 2009. He quickly adapted to the English Premier League, scoring the winner on his debut against Birmingham City in September. Lee has established himself at the club thereafter, helping his side escape from relegation in the 2009/10 season.

Although he was not able to join the Taeguk Warriors’ training camps in South Africa and Spain earlier this year due to his club commitments, Lee is always ready to start on the right wing whenever required.
