Profile:
A swaggering, energetic front-runner, Johan Elmander came to the fore for Sweden during UEFA EURO 2008 qualifying, where he led the line well in the absence of Henrik Larsson and, for much of the campaign, Zlatan Ibrahimovi. He has scored eleven goals in each of the last two seasons with Toulouse FC.

Highly rated in his teens, he left rgryte IS for Feyenoord in 2000.

Underachieved in Eredivisie but scored on each of his two UEFA Champions League appearances and earned winner's medal in UEFA Cup (substitute stint in final v BV Borussia Dortmund).

Returned home on loan to Djurgrdens IF FF; big impact as club won domestic double.

On course for another Allsvenskan title in 2003 after scoring seven goals in eleven games but departed mid-season for NAC Breda.

Joined Brndby IF in 2004 and won Danish double at first attempt; maintained momentum at Toulouse, finishing third in Ligue 1.

Scored four goals for Sweden at 2004 UEFA European Under-21 Championship finals; two substitute appearances for senior team at 2006 FIFA World Cup.

Four goals in nine UEFA EURO 2008 qualifying starts including one at home to Spain (2-0) and two in the abandoned tie against Denmark.

Did you know?
Elmander scored a hat-trick on the final day of the 2006/07 Ligue 1 season to beat local rivals FC Girondins de Bordeaux 3-1 and lift Toulouse into a UEFA Champions League slot.
