Profile
Tim Borowski has already signed up to play for Jürgen Klinsmann at FC Bayern München in 2008/09, thus ending a career-long association with Werder Bremen. The tall blond midfielder impressed at the last FIFA World Cup, helping Germany finish third, but has seen little international action so far under Joachim Löw.
Born in East Germany but schooled at Bremen's academy and made Bundesliga debut in 2001/02. Scored twice on debut in European club competition – 8-0 win v FC Metalurh Donetsk in 2002/03 UEFA Cup first round – a few weeks after international debut, friendly v Bulgaria (2-2).
Member of Bremen's 2003/04 domestic double-winning squad; just 12 starts in Bundesliga but hero in DFB-Pokal final, scoring two in 3-2 win against second division TSV Alemannia Aachen.
Subsequently became first-team regular – both in Bundesliga and UEFA Champions League; injured in 2007/08 but came good in closing weeks to take Bremen into runners-up spot.
Replaced Michael Ballack during opening match of 2006 World Cup and Torsten Frings in semi-final – substitute in four other games; only one start in UEFA EURO 2008 qualification – v Wales (0-0).
