A flurry of goals in the closing weeks of the 2007/08 season enabled Daniel Güiza to overtake Sevilla FC's Luís Fabiano and win the coveted Pichichi top goalscorer prize. It was an against-the-odds achievement by the previously unsung 27-year-old RCD Mallorca striker, who made his international debut in Spain's final UEFA EURO 2008? qualifier against Northern Ireland.

Hails from Jerez de la Frontera in southern Spain but began Primera División career at Mallorca, where struggled to make an impact in shadow of strike duo Samuel Eto’o and Albert Luque.
