Profile:

Slovenia’s first-choice left-back, Bojan Jokic has amassed a wealth of international experience at a relatively young age. With well over 30 caps already to his name, the on-loan Chievo defender can be expected to play a big part in the Zmajceki’s South Africa 2010 campaign.

He was certainly a key figure during qualifying, playing in nine of Slovenia’s 12 preliminary matches, including both legs of their triumphant play-off against Russia. As well as cementing his place in a defence that conceded just six goals throughout that entire qualifying campaign, Jokic will also arrive in South Africa with experience in two of Europe’s leading leagues.

Ligue 1 outfit Sochaux were the first to spot the left-back’s evident potential and, after two excellent seasons with Jorica in his homeland, he made the move to France in the summer of 2007.  Jokic made an immediate impact at the Montbeliard outfit, but despite gaining plenty of first team exposure in his first two seasons in French football, he started in only five matches at the beginning of the 2009/10 campaign and was allowed to leave on loan to Chievo on 30 January 2010.

The defender, who has represented Slovenia at every level since turning 15, will now be aiming to make a big impression in Serie A to strengthen his claim on a starting jersey in South Africa.
