After starting out primarily as a striker, Brockie is now mostly utilised on the flanks though mostly in an attacking role. Like a number of young team-mates in the national team set-up, Brockie's career commenced with a flourish, and after a period in the wilderness, his career appears firmly back on track. Two years out of professional football came to an end after signing with new Australian A-League club North Queensland Fury last year, where Brockie played alongside Liverpool great Robbie Fowler.

Brockie's return to the A-League was aided by a prolific goalscoring run with New Zealand's U-23 team which culminated in Brockie scoring New Zealand's only goal of at Beijing 2008, against host-nation China.

As an 18-year-old Brockie was one of the most impressive youngsters in the A-League's inaugural season bursting on the scene by scoring a number of goals for New Zealand Knights. Quickly snapped up by glamour club Sydney FC, Brockie never settled and returned to the New Zealand domestic competition.

After debuting for the national team in 2006, the powerfully-built Brockie is settling back to the senior national team environment playing in two of the All Whites six FIFA World Cup™ qualifiers.

After a disappointing starting appearance against Spain at the FIFA Confederations Cup South Africa 2009, Brockie bounced back with a solid performance against Iraq. However his most recent domestic season was again hit by injury with the 22-year-old enduring a race against time to be fit for South Africa 2010 after suffering a fractured tibia in January playing for North Queensland. He has since departed the Fury to link with fellow A-League outfit Newcastle Jets.
