'ROBBO' gave Albion a major pre-season boost in July 2006 when he penned a new three-year contract. The no-nonsense left-back signed for the Baggies in October 2003 for an initial £250,000 fee and, after playing a starring role in Albion's 'Great Escape' during 2004/05, his form the following season saw him touted for an England call-up. A feisty, pugnacious character on the field, he is a strong and committed tackler who also likes to play his part as an attacking force. The former Under-21 international was a huge success with his hometown and only previous club Watford, for whom he made over 200 appearances. He clocked up a number of Premier League appearances for the Hornets under the management of Graham Taylor, also playing in the 2003 FA Cup semi-final defeat by Southampton. Robinson earned a second crack at the top flight by helping Albion win promotion in the 2003/04 season with a string of solid displays, both at left-back and left wing-back. |
