Bjarni has progressed well since joining the academy setup in 2004.

He was identified by the Blues' scouting network and has since moved up through the ranks at Goodison Park.

Having played for the Academy side, he has this season become a fixture for the reserves, scoring four goals in his nine starts.

His form impressed David Moyes enough for him to hand Vidarsson a place on the subs bench for the matches against Newcastle in February and Middlesbrough in April.

Bjarni has represented his native Iceland at under 16, 17, 19 and 21 levels.

He is a tall, elegant midfielder with an eye for goal. He has also been deployed in a more advanced role on occasions and now trains with the senior squad at Bellefield.
