| The arrival of 21-year-old Mateus Galiano da Costa on the international scene has proven a major boost to Angola after injuries forced Gilberto and Maurito out of the finals. Having impressed at Gil Vicente in recent months, the youthful Mateus could be the player to step into the breach. After making his league debut for the Portuguese side, he was called up to the national team in April for the Cosafa Castle Cup tournament in Lesotho. He scored against Mauritius on his debut and added another against Lesotho to make enough of an impression and book his ticket to Germany.
