A promising young defender, Brett Studman first began football at the age of six. He left local side Macleay Valley at the age of 14 and signed with Sydney Olympic and from there went on to captain the NSW U/16’s team where he was wanted by several overseas clubs, but due to visa complications was unable to move. He then went on to join the NSW Institute of Sport and eventually the AIS. During this time he was selected to represent the national team including playing in the World Youth Cup in Trinidad and Tobago. When he signed with the Jets he was captain of the AIS team.
