Flavio Amado is usually paired with star player Akwa in the Angolan attack, providing a dynamic striking partnership. He scored three of his country’s four goals in the 2006 African Cup of Nations, despite being better known as a creator of chances rather than a finisher. He likes to take on defenders and is able to feed team-mates with an accurate cross. In the summer of 2005, he joined African Champions Cup winners Al Ahly Cairo, who represented their continent in the 2005 FIFA World Club Championship.
