William Paul "Billy" Paynter is a professional footballer who currently plays for Leeds United in the Football League Championship as a striker.

He started his career with Port Vale in 2000, and made over 150 appearances in his six years with the club. Sold to Hull City in 2006, he was sold on to Southend United later that year. His career stalled, and following a loan spell with Bradford City, he moved on to Swindon Town in 2007. Averaging more than a goal every three games with the club, he transferred to Leeds United in 2010.
