An unfamiliar face to many Romanian fans as he has never played in the country's top domestic league, Răzvan Cociş spent three seasons in neighbouring Moldova with serial champions FC Sheriff before joining FC Lokomotiv Moskva at the start of the 2007 Russian Premier-Liga season. A lively, skilful all-purpose midfielder, he can also play up front.

Born in Cluj-Napoca, he was a hot youth prospect with local side FC Universitatea Cluj but not picked up by a top Liga 1 club despite three promising seasons in the second division.

Decided to join Sheriff, Moldova's richest club, in 2004 and was an immediate success, top-scoring with 12 goals in debut season as Tiraspol outfit retained title.

Maintained form with ten league goals in 2005/06 and another in Moldovan Cup as Sheriff completed double.

Left for Lokmotiv halfway through another title-winning campaign; scored winning goal on Russian Premier-Liga home debut v FC Rubin Kazan (2-1) but laid low for much of 2007 season with knee injury.

First capped by Romania in August 2005, he appeared in six UEFA EURO 2008 qualifiers, three times from the start.
