Vranjes is a dynamic and powerful young player, who looks set to remain a regular for the national team for many years to come. His first professional club was NK Osijek in 1997 and Vranjes enjoyed a three-year spell with Bayer Leverkusen and VfB Stuttgart before moving to Werder Bremen in 2005. He played at the 1999 FIFA Youth World Championship and also in two of Croatia’s matches at the 2002 FIFA World Cup™. His former coach at VfB Stuttgart, Felix Magath, rated him as one of his most talented players.
