Lee was a left winger when he joined Hearts from Salvesen Boys Club after leaving Forrester High School. However, he has developed into a very promising wing-back who has great energy on the left flank and constantly supports the attack with runs and crosses. This was underlined in the Scottish Cup fourth-round replay at Kilmarnock on 16 February 2005 when Lee ran seventy yards to score his first competitive goal for Hearts and set the team on the road to victory.

Lee is a quick learner and last season, after moving from the youth team to the U21 side, former manager John Robertson rewarded his progress by including Lee in the senior squad and he made his debut against Kilmarnock in the Scottish Cup fourth-round match at Tynecastle on 5 February.

The composed and tenacious defender has recently extended his contract by two years and although Lee is just 18 he has earned a regular place in George Burley's squad. The youngster has also demonstrated the ability to play a ball-winning role in midfield which he feels is his natural position.
