Twice a CONMEBOL Copa America winner with Brazil, Ze Roberto played at the 1998 FIFA World Cup™, but was overlooked for the 2002 finals in Korea/Japan. His fortunes changed when Carlos Alberto Parreira replaced Luiz Felipe Scolari as coach and restored him to the team for the 2005 FIFA Confederations Cup and 2006 FIFA World Cup qualifying.
