| Striker Cameron Jerome was Steve Bruce's first big summer signing in June 2006 from Cardiff City. He made his debut from the substitutes' bench against Colchester United in August 2006, but was unfortuinately red carded just three minutes after joining the game. The initial fee was £3 million, which could later rise to £4 million depending on Jerome's success at St. Andrew's. He was the Bluebirds' top scorer in the 2005/06 season, netting an impressive 20 goals for the Welsh outfit, a feat which earned him a call-up to the England under 21 squad. The Huddersfield born 19-year-old has signed a four-year-deal. Jerome began his career at Cardiff City as a trainee in October 2003, before signing as a professional 12 months later. |
