Christian Wilhelmsson may have struggled to find a fixed home at club level of late, but the 28-year-old winger remains a regular member of the Swedish international set-up. He was on duty in eleven of his country's 12 UEFA EURO 2008? qualifiers and is set for his third major tournament.

Four seasons for Stabk in Norway's Tippeligaen – always finished between third and fifth place; played in the 2002/03 UEFA Cup v RSC Anderlecht and scored the winning goal in Brussels (1-0).

Duly joined Anderlecht – as a Swedish international – in 2003; proved a popular acquisition, winning two Eerste Klasse titles in three seasons and competing in three straight UEFA Champions League campaigns, scoring goals against Werder Bremen and Valencia CF.

One start and three substitute appearances at UEFA EURO 2004? (scored in the penalty shoot-out versus the Netherlands); four games (two from start) at the 2006 FIFA World Cup.

Joined FC Nantes Atlantique in 2006 but stayed for just half a season, spending the next 18 months on loan to three clubs – AS Roma, Bolton Wanderers FC and RC Deportivo La Corua.
