Attacking midfielder Gilles Yapi Yapo saw plenty of action in the run-up to the 2006 FIFA World Cup™, playing in six of Côte d’Ivoire’s qualifying matches. The 24-year-old playmaker, known for his opportunistic style of play, was also part of the silver medal-winning squad at the 2006 African Cup of Nations, but his role was limited to two matches and he was unused in the final against Egypt. At FC Nantes, where he teams up with compatriot Emerse Fae, Yapi is primarily used on the left side of midfield.
