Vasili Berezutski is a Russian footballer who plays as a defender for CSKA Moscow.

He plays as a fullback or centre back and sometimes is also deployed as wingback or wide-midfielder

Vasili started to play football in sport school Smena in Moscow. His identical twin brother, Aleksei, is also a CSKA defender. He began his professional career in 1999 at the age of 17 in Torpedo-ZIL. He is now playing for CSKA Moscow. He is a Russia national football team regular. He was called up to Russia's Euro 2008 squad. He was named to Russia's provisional squad for UEFA Euro 2012, but had to drop out before tournament began due to thigh injury. On 2 June 2014, he was included in the Russia's 2014 FIFA World Cup squad, appointed as the team captain.
