Profile:

A tough, uncompromising right-back who has spent the past 18 months endearing himself to fans at RSC Anderlecht, Marcin Wasilewski's aggressive, athletic approach has won him the confidence of Poland coach Leo Beenhakker, who selected him eleven times in UEFA EURO 2008 qualifying.

Started career in second division with his local club Hutnik Kraków before embarking on Polish Ekstraklasa career in 2000 with Słąsk Wroclaw.

Relegated with Słąsk in 2002, moved on to Wisła Płock, with whom he had brief taste of UEFA Cup football and earned elevation to Polish national side.

No appearances in 2006 FIFA World Cup (qualifying or finals), but impressive form at KS Amica Wronki/Lech Poznań in 2006 earned place in Beenhakker's team.

Moved to Anderlecht in January 2007 and won Belgian title, scoring two goals in first three games.

Reached UEFA Cup Round of 16 with Brussels club in 2007/08, making nine appearances.
