A giant central defender with great aerial ability, Servet Çetin's career has flourished over the past couple of years following an uncertain period at Fenerbahçe SK. Outstanding for rivals Galatasaray AS in 2007/08 as they regained the Turkish title from their fellow Istanbul giants, he has also established himself as a key member of the national team.

Capped 17 times at Under-21 level before promotion to the senior side and two appearances in the 2003 FIFA Confederations Cup in France.

Joined Fenerbahçe from Denizlispor in 2003; made impact in only second of three seasons there, winning Turkish title and competing in UEFA Champions League.

Renaissance at provincial club Sivasspor in 2006/07 earned recall to national team and move to Galatasaray.

Started eleven of 12 UEFA EURO 2008 qualifiers, scoring one goal (in 2-2 draw away to Malta) – his first at international level.
