The absence of Sweden's regular left-back, Erik Edman, through injury offers a chance for Mikael Dorsin to stamp his mark on UEFA EURO 2008.

 Although the 26-year-old has been a senior international since 2001, this is the first time that he has been selected to represent his country at a major tournament.

Came to prominence with Stockholm club Djurg?rdens IF FF, winning promotion to Allsvenskan in 2000 and claiming Swedish league/cup double in 2002.

International debut came in indoor match against Faroe Islands on 31 January 2001 – game also provided first caps for Edman and fellow UEFA EURO 2008 squad members Christian Wilhelmsson and Zlatan Ibrahimovi.

First competitive match in last UEFA EURO 2004 qualifier v Latvia; did not play in finals, chosen instead for UEFA European Under-21 Championship in Germany.

Left Djurg?rden for RC Strasbourg in summer 2003 (midway through another Allsvenskan-winning campaign) but returned to Scandinavia following year, joining Rosenborg BK.

Two Norwegian titles with Rosenborg and 15 UEFA Champions League appearances.

Joined large foreign legion at ambitious Romanian club CFR 1907 Cluj in January 2008; won domestic double (did not play in cup final).
