Profile:
Andrew is a product of the Arbroath youth system having come through both the under 16 and under 18 teams and made his debut for the Angus side in the Challenge Cup against Stirling Albion in 2000. He also featured in matches against Ross County and the Scottish Cup tie against Motherwell Fir Park.

Andrew made his first-team breakthrough at Gayfield at thebeginning of season 2001/02, playing in his best position at the centre of defence, and his performances soon raised interest from a host of clubs in Scotland and England. Trials at Tynecastle and with Charlton Athletic followed, and his profile was raised still further when Hearts made their first bid with the initial offer being rejected by his club, but after the player himself rejected a move to Dundee United, Hearts stepped in again to sign Andrew on a five-year deal.

Craig Levein is delighted with his capture and added: "In my opinion, centre backs must have certain attributes if they want to play at the highest level. He has height, he has pace and he can pass the ball. He has deficiencies in his game but I expect that of a player of his age. It is now up to us to coach him and turn him into the player we think he can be."

Andy has developed into a regular member of the Hearts first team squad, scoring his first goal for the Club against Dundee at Dens Park on the 24th of November, 2001.
