Benjamin Mendy is a French professional footballer who plays as a left back for Premier League club Manchester City and the France national team.
A modern day full-back, it is quite apparent Mendy enjoys the attacking side of the game more than the defensive one. He is very good dribbler of the ball and can whip in inviting crosses from the left hand side. His athleticism and tremendous work rate are quite impressive when compared to other full backs of his age.
Mendy spent four seasons in the French top flight, Ligue 1, winning a domestic championship with Monaco before moving to England on a then world-record transfer fee for a defender. Mendy was called up to the senior France squad for the first time to face Luxembourg and Spain in March 2017. He made his debut on 25 March 2017 against the former, playing the whole game in a 3–1 2018 FIFA World Cup qualification away win. |
