Before South Africa’s training camp in Germany in April this year, Khuboni didn’t have a single international cap under his belt. The Durban-born hardman was handed a rare call-up early this year by Parreira when the Brazilian wanted to improve the depth of his squad.

After his debut, Parreira become one of Khuboni’s biggest admirer. What impressed Parreira the most was Khuboni’s ability to control the tempo of the game, while maintaining good positioning in midfield. He has since become one of the Brazilian’s trusted back-up options to his anchor midfield combination of Fulham’s Kagisho Dikgacoi and Russian-based midfielder, McBeth Sibaya. Khuboni played his first international match in January this year against South Africa’s immediate neighbours, Zimbabwe in a match where only locally-based players were called by Parreira. The Golden Arrows player has experience lining up alongside Dikgacoi before the latter moved to England, and it is this combination that could be reunited again in the finals.","6A0E980854EFD8AD1B424574AD15DF0D":"2016-7-18","BDC97245F9A52F8B":"22495","e_index":9};
