By that point, the shot-stopper from Avignon had actually made his professional debut with Crystal Palace, but after a single appearance for the English second-tier outfit he returned to OM, where he was kept out of the starting XI by Vedran Runje. To gain more playing time, Carrasso agreed a loan move to Ligue 2 side Guingamp, before his second return to the Stade Velodrome yielded a more substantial stint between the sticks while first-choice No1 Fabien Barthez served a long suspension. Acclaimed for his performances during that breakthrough run, Carrasso began the 2006\/07 campaign as Marseille&#8217;s regular custodian, Barthez having left the club.<BR><BR>A serious achilles tendon injury soon put his career back on ice, however, and allowed OM&#8217;s back-up keeper Steve Mandanda to demonstrate his considerable potential. By the time he returned to full fitness, Carrasso found himself resigned to an understudy role and he ended the season on the bench before switching to Toulouse that summer.
