Whenever Carlos Idriss Kameni decides to end his international career there seems little doubt that Guy Roland N’Dy Assembe will be anointed his successor. Widely regarded as Cameroon’s No1-in-waiting, the Valenciennes keeper has done nothing but flourish in Kameni’s shadow.<\/P>
Still only 24, N’Dy Assembe commands his box with authority and possesses superb reflexes. Born in Yaounde, he moved to France at a young age, learning the ropes at Nantes. Spotted while playing for an amateur club in the city, he did not have to wait long before making his debut in Ligue 2.<\/P>
Forging a reputation as a reliable understudy, he has rarely disappointed whenever he has been given the chance to show his skills. Signed at the start of last season by Valenciennes as cover for their injured first-choice custodian, the Cameroonian made the most of his opportunity, making 19 appearances for the Ligue 1 club.<\/P>
