An industrious central midfielder, he has also been in and out of Serbia’s squad since his first call-up as a 20-year-old in 2007.
Kacar began his path to prominence at Vojvodina in 2003, and four years later, against the odds, he was the fulcrum of the team that reached the Serbian Cup final. The Novi Sad underdogs ultimately lost 2-0 to Belgrade heavyweights Crvena Zvezda, but their young midfielder did not deserve to be on the losing team.
Hertha Berlin paid €3m for Kacar in 2008, and he made a significant impact in his fist season at the Olympiastadion, helping them mount an unforeseen title challenge that eventually faltered down the home straight – they finished fourth, six points behind champions Wolfsburg.
Kacar nonetheless failed to reproduce his form during the 2009\/10 campaign as Hertha struggled.
Kacar represented Serbia at the UEFA European U-21 Championship and the Men’s Olympic Football Tournament Beijing 2008.
