The tall and powerfully-built central-defender made a successful late run for inclusion in Australia’s squad for the 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa™ after seemingly being out of contention just a few months ago. Beauchamp was also a surprise inclusion for Germany 2006, and along with Mark Milligan was one of only two players selected from the A-League, though neither saw any game time.<\/P>
The intervening four years have been largely problematic for the Sydneysider and he had made just one appearance for the Socceroos over a two-year period prior to donning the green and gold in last month’s home win against New Zealand. Similarly, leading into Germany 2006, Beauchamp debuted for the national team in February of that year in an AFC Asian Cup qualifier against Bahrain, before earning his second cap in the final warm-up match against Liechtenstein. A semi-regular for the national team throughout 2007, Beauchamp played two matches during Australia’s debut appearance at the AFC Asian Cup.<\/P>
After playing in the first season of the A-League with Central Coast Mariners, Beauchamp departed Australia for Nuremberg, a path taken by a number of Socceroos in recent years. After a promising start, injuries and a lack of game time hindered his club career and after two seasons in the Bundesliga he moved to Danish champions Aalborg in 2008. Despite a red card on debut, Beauchamp began life at his new club enjoying regular football, including a number of UEFA Champions League matches.<\/P>
