Shaun Wright-Phillips has experienced a rollercoaster career to date. A quick, skilfull right-winger, his form has been hit and miss on the club scene since making his first Premier League appearance in 2000, while he has flitted in and out of the England squad since debuting four years later.

The 28-year-old was brought up in South London, the adopted son of Arsenal legend Ian Wright. Released by Nottingham Forest as a 15-year-old, he went on to join Manchester City, who handed him his first-team bow in 1999\/2000 season.

It was in 2001\/02 that Wright-Phillips made a place in City’s side his own, helping them win promotion to the top flight, where he has remained ever since. Initially utilised as a wingback, he was later deployed as an orthodox winger.

Wright-Phillips won City’s young player of the year award a club record four times in succession, and after scoring ten goals in 34 matches in the 2004\/05 campaign, he moved to Chelsea for a sizeable £25m. Although the 1.66m player won the Premier League in 2006 and the FA Cup a year later, his three years at Stamford Bridge were largely disappointing. Indeed, he was unable to hold down a first-team place under Jose Mourinho, Avram Grant and Luiz Felipe Scolari, and was subsequently sold back to his former club for £8.5m.

Wright-Phillips has rediscovered his best form at Eastlands, and has subsequently featured in Fabio Capello’s England plans. The Greenwich native scored in the 3-0 victory over Belarus in South Africa 2010 qualifying and then headlined a reverse of Egypt at Wembley in March, when he rose from the bench to score one, set up another and inspire his nation to a 3-1 comeback success.   <\/P>","572BB26E7A76C211":"21688","5BAE2FF41BC6AD03489546EF11EAFCB7":"1981-10-25","185D9308B7C9E0BBE486C613A62D93FE":"1","EDBF020A791C65EC6DC356F5C22437AB":"29","EBC62A89E472008E22ACFCF9251EA2ED":"","5BB437CAF240E475":"64kg","1A49EE26E6AAD5C64FC6A19EFDD00C1A":"New York Red Bulls,Queens Park Rangers,Manchester City,Chelsea FC,Nottingham Forest","2278C81F60D7F1ECF170F6DDE4B76865":"New York Red Bulls","7FB3F46040506B81":"Shaun Wright-Phillips","12F030D6FCEE9D12":"3961","e_index":5};
