Sylvain Armand (born 1 August 1980) is a French professional football (soccer) player in the left fullback position, who currently plays for Paris Saint-Germain in the French Ligue 1 championship. Armand has played in many different positions (left side, center back, defensive midfielder and left midfielder).

FC Nantes
<\/STRONG>In 2000, having impressed with his performances in Clermont, he switched to top-flight club Nantes. He staged his first appearance in Ligue 1 during the match between Auxerre in Nantes (2-2) 9 September 2000. In a fairytale ending, he won the 2001 Ligue 1 championship in his very first season with the "Canaris". The following three seasons were much less successful. It is also the author of a goal in the UEFA Champions League against the Lazio during the European campaign of Nantes in the Champions League in 2002, following a lonely ride in his left corridor.

Paris Saint-Germain
<\/STRONG>In 2004, Armand and Nantes teammate Mario Yepes both moved to Paris Saint-Germain for approximately $ 5 million. After a very difficult season for PSG, Sylvain Armand part in the victory of PSG in the Coupe de France in April 2006 against Marseille. Season in 2007-08, Sylvain has a little trouble at the start of the championship. Rarely injured and suspended, he has missed only eight championship game in seasons 2004 to 2008 while playing in different positions (left side, center back, defensive midfielder and left midfielder).

With Paris, he won the 2006 and 2010 Coupe de France and the 2008 Coupe de la Ligue. Since the arrival of new coach Antoine Kombouaré in 2009, Armand has been deployed in positions other than left-back, playing in central defence and even as a defensive midfielder when needed. On 17 April 2011, he reached a new landmark when he made his 319th game for Paris Saint-Germain, thus overtaking legendary goalkeeper Bernard Lama. After Kombouaré sacking and was succeed by former manager of A.C. Milan and Chelsea Carlo Ancelotti.
