Abdelkader Laifaoui was born in Algeria and started out his club career back in 1999 with Algerian side OMR El Anasser, who is currently playing in the second division. He made his debut with Les Fennecs in August of 2004 against Burkina Faso, which ended in a 2-2 draw, but his performance didn’t impress much as he was overlooked for the national team after this game for five whole years.

In August 2009 he caught the attention of coach Rabeh Saadane after he helped his current club ES Setif win the Algerian League title, the Arab Champions League title and the North Africans Champions Cup title in addition to reaching the final of CAF Confederations Cup. As a result the defender was re-drafted into the squad and played an important role in Algeria’s campaign to the semi-finals of the CAF Africa Cup of Nations that took place in Angola earlier this year.
