An Australian youth international, Jedinak penned a short-term deal with the Mariners during their 2006 Pre-Season Cup campaign as yet more temporary cover for a host of injuries to the Mariners first team. One of the premier Australian junior midfield talents of the early nineties, Jedinak was signed from NSW Premier League champions Sydney United, where he starred throughout the Edensor Park club’s memorable campaign. In 2003, Jedinak lined up alongside Mariners defender Alex Wilkinson at the FIFA World Youth Championships in the United Arab Emirates, making appearances against the Czech Republic, Canada and the host nation. Jedinak’s brief tenure overseas with Croatian club Varteks Varazdin saw him lineup alongside European internationals Nedim Halilovic of Bosnia and Herzegovina and Croatian goalkeeper Vladimir Vasilj.
